Indigo Girls
Yes they're lesbians. No, they're not a couple. Never were. In fact they've been friends since elementary school. Bursting out in the late 1980s when folk was having a moment (including Lesbian artist Tracy Chapman). The Indigo Girls were very much part of the Athens, GA scene, which was spearheaded by R.E.M., and along with 10,000 Maniacs, these three bands rode "college radio" into the charts, and toured together and all grew very politically active. The Indigo Girls have a huge following and continue to record and tour. Michael Stipe, R.E.M.'s frontman has since come out as Queer.
